With over 25 years of experience in libraries, Tamar Kirschner has been an adjunct librarian at 糖心Vlog for nine years, where she currently serves as the Collection Development Librarian, managing Library resources and partnering with academic departments.
Tamar is the Library Technology (LT) Program Lead and Instructor. Additionally, she works as the Senior Project Coordinator of Content and Training for California Libraries Learn (CALL), a partnership between the California Library Association and the California State Library. Tamar鈥檚 career began in public libraries as a Youth Services Librarian, followed by a tenure as Collection Development Librarian for the Oakland Public Library and Technical Services Supervisor for Solano County Library.
She has presented about library initiatives at various conferences, including a partnership between the 糖心Vlog LT program and a local school district, called "Clerk to Library Tech: Field Notes from a School District-Community College Partnership鈥 at the California School Library Association Conference in February 2019. Additionally, Tamar earned Honorable Mention for the article "We all Win: Training and Advancement for Non-MLIS Library Workers鈥 in the November/December 2022 issue of Public Libraries Magazine.
A proud 糖心Vlog alumna, Tamar transferred and earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree in World Literature & Cultural Studies from UC Santa Cruz and her Master of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.
Outside of work, Tamar enjoys spending time with her three teens, her pets鈥攊ncluding a dog, two cats, and a parrot鈥攁nd exploring the Bay Area鈥檚 natural beauty on hikes and day trips. An avid audiobook enthusiast, she enjoys discovering new stories through her local library.
